This is one of my go-to games for PE class, bootcamps, and youth training.
It takes 5 minutes, needs almost no equipment, and kids love it.

The Cone Reaction Elimination Game feels like play, but it secretly builds real skills.

What You Need

  • 1 cone (or any small object)
  • Open space
  • Players in pairs

That’s it.


How to Set Up

  1. Put players into pairs
  2. Partners face each other in an athletic stance
  3. Place a cone on the floor between them 
    • Equal distance from both players

How to Play

  1. The coach or teacher calls out body parts:
    • Head
    • Shoulders
    • Knees
  1. Players must touch the body part you call
  2. When you call “CONE!”
    • First player to grab the cone wins the round

Rules (Important!)

  • Players can ONLY grab the cone when you say “cone”
  • Touching the cone early = automatic loss for that round

This keeps everyone honest and locked in.


Elimination & Penalty Options

The losing player:

  • Does a quick exercise (5 squats, jumping jacks, burpees)
  • Then steps out OR rotates to a new partner

Choose what fits your group and time.


How the Game Progresses

  • Winners move on to the next round
  • Winners pair up again
  • Keep going until there is one final winner

Eliminated players can:

  • Cheer
  • Ref
  • Get ready for the next game
